Record Setting All-Star Dawson Returns for Fifth Season

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — It is with great pleasure that the four-time Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers announce that one of the most exciting players in the Frontier League, Chase Dawson, has agreed to terms to return for his fifth season with the club in 2024.

Dawson, a two-time midseason and postseason Frontier League All-Star, hit .332 for the Boomers in 2023 with four homers, 62 RBIs, 21 doubles, eight triples, 85 runs scored and 50 stolen bases. The left-handed hitter posted a .397 on-base percentage while slugging .457, helping guide the team to a third consecutive playoff berth for the first time in franchise history by setting a team record with 131 hits. During the 2023 campaign, Dawson set single season franchise records for hits, runs and stolen bases. Dawson also drew more walks (37) than strikeouts (32).

The success of 2023 followed a record-setting 2022 in which Dawson connected on a near impossible Frontier League record 24 triples while batting .310 with 22 doubles, five homers, 64 RBIs, 23 steals and 76 runs scored.  The Northwest Indiana native batted .312 in 2021, helping guide the Boomers to a Frontier League title coming out of Covid.

Dawson is the owner of the team’s career records for hits, runs, triples, RBIs, at bats, sacrifice flies and total bases. The Valparaiso graduate is poised to set the record for games played. Dawson is also second in doubles and steals while sitting fourth in walks.

Dawson initially joined the Boomers in 2019, playing in 41 contests. When he takes the field this season, Dawson will become just the third position player in franchise history to suit up for the team in five different seasons. Throughout his career, Dawson has played several different positions and was primarily a second baseman in 2023.

The Boomers have made the playoffs in three consecutive seasons and six times in franchise history and will open the 2024 season on May 10 at Washington. The home opener will take place on May 13 against the Tri-City ValleyCats. Schaumburg has led the league in attendance every year since 2014 and has set single season records for attendance each of the past two years. The team became the first in the league to draw over 200,000 fans in back-to-back seasons since Southern Illinois from 2007-2010.

The Boomers open up the 2024 season at home on May 13th at 6:30 pm agianst the Tri City ValleyCats. Single game tickets are now on sale by calling 847-461-3695 or by clicking HERE for the Official Ticket Partner of the Schaumburg Boomers.
